   Before Assignment:

   1. Read Chapters 6, 7, & 8x. Warning: this documentary has graphic and possibly disturbing thematic elements. You are only asked to watch the first 27 minutes for this class. 
   2. Write a Reflection Paper on the following questions:
      1. What is most surprising or shocking to you as you watched and read about the events that lead to the mass suicide?
      2. Give examples of 2 strategies of persuasion (see specifically Chapter 7 in textbook) used by Jim Jones? Explain what this looked like within the People’s Temple.
      3. As the APA article suggests, there are ethical questions raised as to the dangers of social psychological research and how that can possibly aid in these type of events. What do you think? What are some ideas of how this  situation could be prevented in the future?

   • Paper length should be approximately 2-3 pages in length (approximately 500- 750 words).
   • Use APA style, including a cover page and reference page (not included in page length)
   • Introductory paragraph, setting forth a clear statement of your assignment.
