For your final grade however, I am asking you to do one additional short paper, you can send it to me as an attachment to an email. Here is what I would like you to write about. Don May’s book is a good example of a book written from a Spiritual point of view of addiction. Capuzzi and Staufer’s text is a good example of a secular point of view. How do you as a Christian counselor integrate these possibly differing perspectives? Are there situations where one of the texts is more appropriate then the other? What is the relationship between the two books; are they against each other? Parallel each other? The same thing stated in different ways? Feel free to think out loud about how you intend to process disparities between the Spiritual and Secular in the future. For instance; if the two differ, might it be that your current interpretation of Scripture might be wrong? Or is the secular approach always wrong because it is secular. Write me 3 pages in APA style, use the texts as references, but also feel free to speculate and explore your own thoughts.
