Team 2 selected the article entitled “Replacement theory; a racist, sexist doctrine, spreads in far-right circles” to illustrate multiculturalism in the news. The article highlights the accused killer’s ideology that fueled the recent massacres at New Zealand mosques in March, which took the lives of 50 people. At the core of his professed ideas, is the belief that whites face the existential threat of falling birthrates that will lead to fewer numbers (Bowles, 2019). This presentation will elaborate on the news story and relate it to multicultural conflict. Additionally, we will provide a resolution approach to the topic.

In the article of the New York Times: Replacement Theory, a Racist, Sexist Doctrine, Spreads in Far-Right Circles, talks about how racism may be hiding behind a theory that we do not want to openly see, but unfortunately to this day and age still roaring and is not silent. Apparently as the writer mentions it in the article, “ for people in the white power movement, frame everything through reproduction and gender”. According to the article women are focus more on work and being successful an business women rather that being focus on becoming a parent. This seems to be a “threat to society”. As existence as we know it is at risk.

Multicultural conflict

Human existence at risk with stereotype threat and racist views

a. Women instinct connect with those stereotypes inferred.

b. Women must comply where in some cases it is a must to do what is best in one’s interest

White supremist thinking

They believe they are the dominant race.

No more multi racial couples

Apparently, the major conflict was to identify women as people with a vote. The apparent downfall on women focusing on raising families could have started by the time women were granted the right to vote. It is a strong believe that women primary focus is to raise a family, while men supply.

How does the article relate to multicultural conflict?

“Discrimination against groups and individuals based on skin color and other assumed associated characteristics (phenotypic and genotypic) is the hallmark of racism”. Lott, B. (2010).

The institution of racism exist and continues to carry on in America even as different cultures flourish and up rise. There is a belief that the powers that be are white and in control.

Recent uproar with black men in the n.f.l praising having mixed children with white women.

“it is predicated on the notion that white women are not having enough children and that falling birthrates will lead to white people around the world being replaced by nonwhite people”. Bowles, N. (2019, March).

Resolution approach

Make A Change

Educate

Slide by: Geni

Conflict resolution is conceptualized as the techniques and processes involved in facilitating the non violent ending of struggle and retribution. As individuals, it is up to the people to make a change in this world to reflect an impact on the next generation. That means that people need to educate themselves on other cultures, religions, and the uniqueness of each individual. By doing so, there would not be as much hatred in the world or discrimination. Uncultivated people are the first to pass judgment, but yet the main one that is ignorant to the change in life.
