In White and Albright’s article, “Calling a New Generation of Leaders,” you will find a section titled “Orient Yourself to the Field.” Using this and the other reading, write a paper of 1,250-1,500 words covering the following:
Provide a brief explanation of the functions of the various organizations that make up the addiction counseling field, including: The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), national trade associations, national advocacy groups, and recovery mutual aid societies.
Provide a description of one new evidence-based approach to the treatment of addictions.
Identify two groups or organizations that are shaping substance abuse public policy at the national level. Explain briefly how they are affecting policy.
Include at least five scholarly references in addition to the textbook in your paper.
