Create a Neuron Analogy of your own!

I want you to relate the concept of the nerve impulse to something you already know. Make an analogy between what you have learned about the way neurons send and receive information to something – anything that you know very well. It could be anything – a balloon, TV program, baking, sailing, or going to a club. Tie the concepts you have learned to your analogy. You will write out how each concept works in the neuron then talk about how that is like your topic of choice; like in the class example – a balloon releasing confetti is like the release of neurotransmitters. You can look at several examples of past student projects. Specifically, at least include

the resting potential,
action potential,
threshold of excitation,
all-or-none law, and
release of neurotransmitters.
Completing this project well should help you on the midterm and through the whole semester, so really try to come up with something that will help you remember the process of the neural impulse.

You may be asked to show off your creative work to the class before the mid-term and we will post it on the wall for the semester.

There is no “page limit.” In fact, you can do it on construction paper with magic marker. You can use confetti or glitter pens or crayons or whatever. Be as creative as you like! I will attach some examples.
