Impulse Control Disorder.

Impulse Control Disorder.

I chose Impulse Control Disorder. Why you find it interesting or compelling; The reason why I selected the concept, I find it interesting. What about this idea or concept do you want to learn more about; Why children and adolescents severely struggle to control their emotions and behaviors. Impulse control disorders are characterized by chronic problems in which people lack the ability to maintain self-control. Children and adolescents with impulse control disorders frequently engage in repetitive, destructive behaviors despite the adverse consequences that arise from the participation in those behaviors (Resource Treatment Center, 2018).

Terminology from the Learning Resources; I think Impulse Control Disorder can fall under Cognitive psychology, which refers to the study of human mental processes and their role in thinking, feeling, and behaving. The related discipline of cognitive neuroscience uses neuroimaging methods to relate activity in the brain to behavioral measurements (Kellogg, 2016).
