A health psychology research paper
You will write a research proposal for this course. The proposal should address any aspect of health psychology. For example, you could propose a study about depression and immunology, social support in cancer survivors, dating behavior and weight loss. You can propose a study that will help identify links between psychological phenomena and health behavior or propose to study the effectiveness of an intervention.
Papers must be written in APA format and contain five references from academic journals. It should include a title page, and introduction, a method section, a discussion section, and a reference section. Papers should have 12-point Times New Roman font, double spaced, and use 1-inch margins. Please use the 6th edition of the APA style manual. Any paper that includes material from another author without proper citation (i.e. plagiarism) will receive a grade of 0 and will result in other consequences per the University’s Academic Integrity Policy (see below).
In the introduction you should introduce the topic of your research as well as a brief discussion of the theory and empirical evidence on this topic. The existing research on your topic should justify your hypotheses (i.e., your research question). The methods section should describe generally how you would conduct your study in order to address the hypotheses you propose in the introduction section. The discussion section should address the results you think your study will yield. You do not need to discuss how you would use statistics to analyze your data. There should also be one paragraph at the end about how your expected results would be important to the field or to people in general. The discussion section can be very brief (1-1.5 pages). 5 sources
