Apply developmental theory in a 4–5 page case notes document to explain how human behavior and thoughts affect mental health and well-being.

Psychology professionals, such as caseworkers and therapists, often think in terms of human development when assessing problems  developmental theory.that individuals, couples, or families bring to them. A caseworker, therapist, or other psychology professional may take notes to document the situation and his or her interpretation and recommendations.By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:

    • Use current APA format and style.

Instructions

Select a case from the Case Studies file in the Resources. Select two developmental theories that would apply to the concerns of the person in the case you selected. Search the library for at least two scholarly (peer-reviewed) articles that provide research that would support your analysis. Write comprehensive case notes for the case, based on your research.

Use the following section headings to organize your case notes:

Overview
  • Give a brief overview of the case in your own words. Explain how the client’s thoughts and behaviors are impacting his or her well-being.
  • Provide an overview of the two theories you have selected to apply to the case.
    • First Theory: Describe your first theory.
      • Describe the stage of life for you scenario, based on this theory.
      • Detail how your first theory helps explain your case.
    • Second Theory: Describe your second theory.
      • Describe the stage of life for you scenario, based on this theory.
      • Detail how your second theory helps explain your case.
Stage of Life
  • Describe the stage or stages of the theory that are most applicable to the person’s current stage of life.
    • Describe, in some detail, the stage of life according to the theory. (For example, in Erikson’s psychosocial development theory, a child who is four years old is in the stage of initiative versus guilt.)
  • Describe how the research from the articles applies to the person in the case you selected.
  • Apply your two theories to describe how they help us to better understand this particular person at this point in his or her life, based on how concerns are impacting his or her well-being.
Intervention or Recommendation
  • Recommend a research-based intervention.
  • Provide support from the scholarly literature for your assertion.
    • First Article: Describe the findings.
      • Describe how they apply to your case.
    • Second Article: Describe the findings.
      • Describe how they apply to your case.

Additional Requirements

  • Written Communication: Written communication should be free of errors that detract from the overall message.
  • APA formatting: References and citations should be formatted according to current APA style and formatting.
  • References: At least 2 scholarly, peer-reviewed articles.
  • Length: 4–5 typed, double-spaced pages, not including the references page.
  • Font and font size: Times New Roman, 12-point, double-spaced.
